Wittco Foodservice Equipment was established in 1962 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a privately held company. Over the next three decades the company built a solid reputation for quality products, including cook & hold and rethermalization ovens, holding & transport and banquet cabinets, as well as drawer warmers and heated display cases. Markets served included restaurants, caterers, business & industry, schools and colleges, healthcare and corrections. Wittco was acquired in 1998 by the PMI Food Equipment Group (PMI-FEG; a business segment of Premark International). In order to better facilitate market growth, the company made a significant capital investment in 1999 and 2000 by renovating its Resource and Solutions Center and doubling the size of its production facility in Milwaukee. The state-of-the-art facility added new cell manufacturing processes and expanded production capacity to facilitate just-in-time delivery. In December 1999, PMI-FEG was purchased by Illinois Tool Works (ITW), a multi-billion dollar company that added further support and technical resources. Under ITW's guidance, Wittco has undertaken an extensive continuous product improvement process to further enhance product quality and feature sets, adding value for our customers and improving delivery. To further enhance its product offering in the corrections and healthcare market segments, Wittco purchased Crimsco, Inc., of Kansas City in September of 2000. In the latter half of 2001 Wittco consolidated manufacturing for the Crimsco brand of meal/tray delivery systems in Milwaukee. With an eye toward continued growth and development, and the backing of one of the industry's giants, Wittco looks ahead to continuing to bring its customers the durable, high-quality and HACCP- compliant products that have kept the company going strong for over 30 years.
